Free Spiderman Crochet Pattern

I don’t know about you, but I am not liking all these new AI images of crochet items, that aren’t real! So when I found a free Spiderman crochet pattern, I was excited. But then it turned out not to be a pattern for the photo.

So I decided to create my own pattern and share it for free.

Materials:

For this pattern, I used these materials:

  • Red Heart Yarn: Cherry Red, Black, White, and Royal
  • 4 mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Poly-Fil
  • Scissors
  • Row Marker
  • Pins

Pattern

Finishes size is roughly 8.5 inches tall, and 5.5 inches wide (outside of arm to outside or arm).

Abbreviations:

  • MR- Magic Ring
  • Sl St- Slip Stitch
  • CH- Chain
  • SC- Single Crochet
  • DC- Double Crochet
  • Inc- Increase
  • Dec- Descend
  • BLO- Back Loop Only
  • CC- Change color
  • Rnd- Rounds

Head:

Working with red yarn, start with 6 SC in a MR (6)

Row 2: Inc x6 (12)

Row 3: (1 SC, Inc) x6 (18)

Row 4: (2 SC, Inc) x6 (24)

Row 5: (3 SC, Inc) x6 (30)

Row 6: 2 SC, Inc (4 SC, Inc) x5, 2 SC (36)

Row 7: (5 SC, Inc) x6 (42)

Row 20: (2 SC, Dec) x6 (18)

Row 21: (1 SC, Dec) x6 (12)

Row 22: Dec x6 (6)

Finish off, close the hole and weave in your end. Set the head aside and start working on the legs now.

Legs:

**Important note: you will finish off the first leg you make, but not the second leg. You will use the second leg to connect to the first one, and continue into the body.**

crochet spiderman arms

Fold arm in half and 4 SC across. Finish off and leave a long tail for sewing arms to the body.

You will sew the arms between rows 15 and 14 on each side of the body.

Now is when I also sew on the head. Make sure there is enough stuffing in the ‘neck’ area before you completely close the hole.

Eyes

Make 2, working with white and black yarn.

Starting with white, work 6 SC in a MR, pull closed, do not join. CH2 and turn

Finish off and weave in ends.

Outline for eyes

In black, join to a corner of the eye, SC across the flat edge, SC 2 in the corners. When working around the curve of the eye, FLO SC. Join into your first black ST and finish off. Leave a long tail for sewing to the head.

Pin the eyes where you would like them on the head, and sew them on.

Spider

Embroider the spider on his chest how you would like, using black yarn.

You can also use iron on vinyl if you’d like to make the spider. If your Spiderman is meant to be a toy, I don’t recommend the vinyl because its might peel off easier due to the texture of crochet. (I have done both embroidery and vinyl of the spider. Vinyl spider pictured below, embroidered spiders is picture in the photo at the top of the post)
