Having a weekly cleaning schedule can help you keep a cleaner home. Included in this post is a free weekly cleaning checklist! This list is a great tool to help you get on top of the everyday messes.
Do you ever feel like you’re always cleaning but it never stays clean long enough?
Like each room needs something done but how do you tackle it all each week day after day?
Getting Started with a Cleaning Schedule
First thing to know, by getting a cleaning schedule, your home isn’t going to magically be spotless all the time. There will be days where the mess feels like more and days were it’s less.
By getting into a weekly cleaning schedule, you won’t feel like you need to spend the whole day cleaning anymore. Clean what is on your list for the day and move on.
This doesn’t mean you neglect other messes that happen, it just means that each day of the week, the things on your list is your main focus. Other things can be done, but they don’t have to be either.
Next thing to know, is to set up the routine. My weekly checklist is a daily list of things that should be done everyday, and then the weekly list for each day of the week with a specific room in mind to clean. I know my living room can only get so messy in a weeks time.
Doing a good all over clean of each room, once a week, keeps them from getting too out of hand and overwhelming.
What the Schedule looks like
The weekly cleaning schedule I have created, shows you each day of the week. Each day is labeled with what room is the focus of the day. Then there is one more box for daily tasks that should be done each day.

Make it work for you
You can change up days as needed. This checklist works great for me and my family, but some things might not be ideal for you and yours.
I put off getting on a weekly cleaning routine for far too long and I honestly really enjoy it more now since I’ve implemented and stuck to the routine.
The first week is probably the hardest. It feels like there’s a million things to do and it takes a little longer.
After the first week, each week keeps getting easier. Why?
It keeps getting easier because you’re staying on top of each room, one day a week. And then picking up and cleaning as needed throughout the week as well.
I hope this checklist is helpful to you to start your own weekly cleaning schedule!
